To craft an accurate solution, we need a clear problem, and one that’s solvable! I try identifying business needs in relation to user needs. I dive into user research—chatting with users, analyzing data, and creating user journeys and personas—to clearly define the problem and translate it into a Research Question.
Are some problems internally affecting the crafting of a solution for users (ex. Marketing goals, sales goals, engineering, and so on)? What tradeoffs can we make, realistically?
02
Crafting an Experimental Design
I explore a range of solutions and methods to tackle the problem, like card sorting or A/B testing, comparing your current product or service with a new solution. A tailored experimental design helps me test different approaches effectively. With the design in place, I set up a data collection plan using tools like eye tracking and emotion analysis. This ensures we gather meaningful insights while minimizing biases.
I screen and recruit participants based on specific criteria, making sure they’re the right fit for our study. We ensure they’re informed and consent to take part in the research.
If prototypes are needed, I design them and coordinate with developers to build what’s required. I prepare test materials and set up everything for a smooth testing session.
On test day, I mostly sit back and listen, guiding users through the sessions, taking notes and recording interactions to capture valuable feedback.
I analyze the data using tools like SAS and SPSS to uncover what works best and identify areas for improvement.
We review user feedback and performance metrics to create actionable, prioritized design recommendations that align with both user needs and business goals.

Post-Launch Analysis & Learning
After launch, I review usage data and feedback to gather insights and wrap-up the project. This helps inform and improve future case studies.
First, we need to pinpoint the exact usability issues users are facing and why. I dive into user research—chatting with users, analyzing data, and creating user journeys and personas—to clearly define the problem and translate it into a Research Question.
09
Ideation and Concept Development
I start by brainstorming and sketching out creative ideas based on UX research insights. This phase is all about exploring various concepts and finding the best ways to address user pain points and opportunities.
Next, I turn these ideas into detailed wireframes and prototypes. It’s a hands-on process of trial and error, refining designs to ensure they align with user needs and expectations.
11
Usability Testing & Feedback
With prototypes ready, I test them with real users. I observe their interactions, gather their feedback, and check if the designs are user-friendly. This helps in validating our choices and identifying areas for improvement. I use the UX Research approach described above.
Go back to my UX Research Step-by-Step ApproachI take the feedback and make necessary tweaks to enhance usability. This iterative process involves polishing the design until it’s perfectly aligned with user needs and project goals.
13
Final Design & Implementation
Once refined, I finalize the design and work closely with developers to bring it to life. I ensure that the final product is sleek, functional, and ready to make an impact.

Post-Launch Learning & Analysis
After launch, I monitor performance through user feedback and analytics. This ongoing analysis helps identify any issues and gather lessons for future projects, ensuring continuous improvement in design practices.
